Most issues stem from mods, which are community-created and not maintained by the Sandboxels developer.
Even if you're unsure whether a mod is enabled, follow these steps to remove them:
- Open Sandboxels.
- Locate and click the Settings button at the far end of the toolbar.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings and click the Clear Mods button.
- Click "OK" and make sure your webpage refreshes.
If you've tried everything and the issue persists, check the list below for solutions.
The loading screen is taking too long.
The loading screen should only last a few seconds. If it takes longer, it indicates that the webpage may have crashed before fully loading.
This is typically caused by a mod. Try following the steps above to resolve it.
If you've completed those steps and are still experiencing issues, your browser may be unsupported or outdated. Try switching to a different one, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, and follow the steps again.
Game running slowly? Experiencing low frame rates?
Ensure that Low Power Mode is turned off on your device.
This may slow down JavaScript execution, particularly on mobile devices.
On Microsoft Edge, this feature is known as 'Efficiency Mode,' while on Chrome, it is called 'Energy Saver.'
If this doesn't work, try disabling "Fancy Pixels" in the Sandboxels settings or reducing the canvas size.
The screen flickers or remains black until paused.
The canvas might flicker or vanish if an error occurs while simulating specific pixels.
Pausing should temporarily resolve this issue. During the pause, you can remove the problematic pixels or follow the steps above to uninstall any mods.
Unable to access webpage?
If you are unable to access the Sandboxels website, it could be one of a few things.
Your network connection seems unstable. Please ensure you're connected to Wi-Fi or another reliable internet source.
Your school or employer may be blocking the website. It would be best to contact them explaining its educational and scientific uses.
Although rare, an outage in one of our services could still occur.
